Research Cottage 2023
Research Cottage returns on September 8th-10th. This time the event will take place at Rastila Camping, where you’ll get to spend the weekend in idyllic log cottages, enjoying nature and swimming in the sea, all within a walking distance from a metro stop!
WHAT IS A RESEARCH COTTAGE? Research Cottage is an event that aims to connect doctoral researchers from across the schools of Aalto University by gathering them in a cottage environment to work on research-related skills. The main program consists of a hackathon-style competition, where you will work in a multidisciplinary team, producing a research proposal and presenting it to a panel of expert judges. More importantly, it's a chance to spend a weekend with friends surrounded by Finnish nature. You can take a look at some pictures from last year here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjA51qb
WHEN AND WHERE IS IT? Check-in to the cottages at Rastila Camping (Karavaaninkatu 4, 10-minute walk from the Rastila metro station) starts at 16 on Friday (September 8th), and we’ll check out by 12 on Sunday. This year, the final presentations take place at Aalto University in Otaniemi, where we will take the metro to Aalto after the check-out (note that the ticket doesn’t cover the metro – you may of course use other transportation as well). The event ends at Aalto at 15.
WHAT DOES IT COST? The price of the ticket is 39€, covering two nights of accommodation, dinners on Friday & Saturday, breakfasts on Saturday & Sunday, and lunch on Saturday, as well as snacks, drinks & the use of a beachfront sauna on Saturday. Note that the ticket is not refundable, but you may sell it to another person if you can’t make it. Email board@aallonhuiput.fi if you want to transfer your ticket to someone else.
